Product Description

Porsche was the featured marque in the very first Victory by Design show. It has now been updated to include new sequences and re-formatted in widescreen with Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Surround Sound. Porsche is different from the other Victory by Design shows in that it is largely archive-driven. It contains rare and fascinating film shot by Huschke Von Hanstein and Dr Ferry Porsche as they built up the Porsche company through the 1950s, using motor sport as a means of development and promotion on a world wide scale. Combining this extensive archive film with Alain de Cadenet driving and appraising the milestone competition and production cars spanning Porsches history from Porsche Number One through to the latest limited-edition supercar, the Carrera GT a complete picture of the marque is built up. Adding to the mix are the authoritative insights of motoring historian and Porsche aficionado, Doug Nye. Featured Cars:- Porsche Number One 356 550 & RSK Series 911 904 906 Bergspyder (Hillclimb) 910 & 907 908 908/3 (& 916) 917 917/10 917/30 911 RS & RSR Series 935 936 935/78 (Moby Dick) 936/81 956 & 962 959 993 & 996 911 GT1 Carrera GT Ruf R Turbo

Another MUST for a Porsche junkie... Some extremely interesting footage of old 356's and 550's racing and a great history of how the turbo cars dominated racing throughout the 70s and 80s. I watched it 3x's in 3 days!!
Fun background noise on a day off.

I love to sit on the computer with this dvd playing in DTS mode in the background. Would like to see it in 1080p and 7.1 with more time alloted to in-depth viewing of each model. A full 2 hours would be awesome. Still, this has got to be the best way to hear these beautiful machines running if you don't actually own one.
